Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) protects your work account. You will need both your computer and your smartphone to complete this four-phase setup.

To protect your account and company data, we are implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Please follow all four phases in order to fully secure your account.
Phase 1 — Download the App on Your Phone

Before doing anything on your computer, grab your smartphone and download the official free app:

Google Play Store
Microsoft Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
Microsoft Corporation
Install
Apple App Store
Microsoft Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
Microsoft Corporation
Get
⚠ Important: Look for the official app published by Microsoft Corporation with the blue icon. Do not download paid third-party copycat apps — they will appear as sponsored results at the top of your search.
Phase 2 — Generate Your Setup QR Code on Your Computer

On your computer, open a web browser and go to:

aka.ms/mfasetup
  1. Log in using your work email address and temporary password
  2. A prompt will appear stating "More information required" — click Next
  3. The screen will say "Start by getting the app" — since you already downloaded it in Phase 1, click Next
  4. Keep clicking Next until a large unique QR code appears on your screen
  5. Leave this QR code on your screen and pick up your phone
Phase 3 — Link Your Phone to Your Work Account

iPhone Users

  1. Open the Authenticator app on your iPhone
  2. Accept the privacy agreement if prompted
  3. Tap Add Account or the + icon in the top right
  4. Select Work or school account
  5. Tap Scan a QR code — allow camera access if prompted
  6. Hold your iPhone up to your computer screen and aim the camera over the QR code

Android Users

  1. Open the Authenticator app on your Android device
  2. Accept the initial privacy terms
  3. Tap Add account or tap the three dots menu
  4. Select Work or school account
  5. Tap Scan QR code — grant camera permission if prompted
  6. Hold your phone up to your computer screen and align the camera over the QR code
Phase 4 — Final Verification Test
  1. Once your phone scans the QR code, click Next on your computer
  2. Microsoft will send a test notification to your smartphone
  3. A 2-digit number will appear on your computer screen
  4. On your phone, enter that exact 2-digit number into the Authenticator app and tap Approve (or verify with Face ID / fingerprint)
✓ Setup Complete! Your account is now fully secured. Going forward, whenever you log into your work account from a new device you will enter your password and approve the notification that appears on your phone.
